Operations Centre

The Sota operations centre is located at the heart of the secure Kent Science Park campus in South East England. It houses technical resources dedicated to the management, monitoring and maintenance of all of our technical facilities. This includes our datacentres, core network, campus network, and workplace recovery suites, as well as our cloud, backup, telephony and security platforms.

Our technicians, engineers and consultants, dedicated to technical support and service delivery, also operate from this location, close to the team responsible for facilities and platforms. The operations centre is secured within a razor-wire perimeter fence, and benefits from 24/7 security, CCTV, and controlled access via a purpose-built security gatehouse.

810 Datacentre

The Sota 810 datacentre is a high-specification hosting and colocation facility securely located in Kent Science Park, 40 miles from London. It is constructed as a sealed, fire-safe pod, which is housed within a modern technology unit, with a purpose-built data hall optimised for cooling system air flows.

Standard features include redundant dual path power distribution and switching, resilient uninterruptible power supplies, dual auxiliary power generators, redundant air handling and conditioning systems, high-efficiency hot aisle containment, very early smoke detection apparatus, and automatic gas fire suppression. An external plant area accommodates energy-efficient dry-air coolers and two auxiliary diesel generators. Security is provided by razor-wire perimeter fencing, 24/7 security, and extensive video surveillance.

The 810 datacentre compliments our secondary F25 facility, and is the ultimate choice for business-critical hosting and colocation.

F25 Datacentre

The Sota F25 datacentre is a commercial-grade hosting and colocation facility. Securely located in Kent Science Park, just 40 miles from London, the datacentre is housed within a free-standing, single storey structure, with two internal data suites optimised for cooling system air flows.

Standard features include redundant UPS and air conditioning systems, high-efficiency cold aisle containment, VESDA smoke detection and automatic gas fire suppression. Energy-efficient dry-air coolers are roof-mounted and auxiliary power is provided by an external diesel generator. Security is provided by razor-wire perimeter fencing, 24/7 surveillance, and extensive CCTV.

The F25 datacentre compliments our higher specification 810 facility, and is the popular choice for cost-effective hosting and colocation.

Core Network

The Sota core network is a optical fibre network with a national footprint. The resilient network design utilises ring topology to connect our datacentres directly to hubs in London, where we connect to multiple Tier-1 global transit providers, LINX and LONAP peering exchanges, and international network operators. Ultra-high availability metro ethernet, WDM wavelength, and dark fibre services, are available, providing you with direct access to Sota, high bandwidth internet access, IPv4/v6 BGP IP-transit, low latency backhaul, and point-to-point connectivity.

The network is fully integrated with other network operators providing a national reach encompassing over 300 points of-presence, on 13,700km of fibre, enabling access to over 200,000 UK business postcodes. Our core network also integrates with a regional fibre network which we own. The core network is monitored 24/7 by the operations centre in our UK (South) head office. Partnerships with global carriers allow us to provide international solutions for companies with offices around the world.

Workplace Recovery

The Sota workplace recovery facility is a dedicated, 100 seat, high specification, standby business workplace, which is available 24/7 for disaster recovery, emergencies and DR simulations. Based at Kent Science Park, 40 miles from central London, this unique workplace area comprises two air conditioned suites with 100 fully equipped workstations.

The main suites are complimented by meeting and training rooms, and break-out facilities, as well as direct links to cloud and backup platforms hosted in the adjacent datacentre. Protection from power outages is provided by two datacentre diesel generators.

Our workplace recovery facility is available as a service on a cost-effective per seat subscription basis, or it can be fully integrated into a managed disaster recovery solution.
